Ringo and his All Starr Band played at Radio City Music Hall last night and the concert was super, the band was hot, background vocals outstanding. It was virtually the same as any other night on his 2010 Tour. BUT IT WASN’T THE SAME AT ALL. This was Ringo’s 70th birthday and the sold out show was filled with luminaries and celebs in the Beatles world. The first hint at something special happening came during Photograph, when our friend Mark Rivera (who is listed in the program as the Musical Director) came out with his Sax and he and Edgar Winter shared the solo in the song. It was the start of unforgettable moments. The finale of With A Little Help From My Friends/ Give Peace a Chance saw dozens of musicians join Ringo in stage as backup singers. We cannot give you a full list of who was up there but Yoko, Peter Asher, Jeff Lynne, Joe Walsh, Little Steven, Nils Lofgren, Jim Keltner, Max Weinberg, Greg Lake, Gary Brooker, Richard Marx, Billy Squier, Gary Burr, Colin Hay, Keith Allison were singing the extended finale. Then a huge cake was wheeled out in the shape of Ringo’s drum set and the entire audience sang Happy Birthday along with some of his grandchildren who came on stage with the cake. He said goodnight and left the stage, but I noticed the tech guys moving some gear on stage and then it appeared, under a dim light – it was THAT HOFNER BASS. At that moment the fans knew what was happening. It was a total surprise for Ringo, as the All Starrs came back on stage and then PAUL jogged out to center stage and ripped into Birthday. I can’t remember hearing such a loud ovation, more like a roar when Paul appeared. Ringo ran on stage and headed for his Drums. It was an unforgettable version with Paul turning around a number of times to glance at his former band mate. After the song, Ringo bopped over to Paul and they gave each other a warm and long embrace. They each said I Love You and there wasn’t a dry eye around. We will blog the full list when we can all figure it out. Olivia was also spotted in the audience but did not join in the finale.
To the Greatest – Peace and Love Ringo!
Paul Plays Birthday for Ringo
They were, and will always be, the Best!! Alas, I am but on UTube but it was still wonderful!!
Happy Birthday Ringo! This is the coolest…so glad Paul did this for Ringo and all of us to experience. I am also so glad to see that the both have stayed in shape and are still rocking!

I agree Raejean………….I’ve loved these guys for 46 years. I’ve seen them in person. And still at 60 years old I still tear up when I see these guys. I would love to see 1964 all over again! So sad that all 4 couldn’t be together last night. Happy Birthday Ringo!
I was like an 8 year old again last night, screaming at the top of my lungs for Paul and Ringo. I had a feeling when I saw Paul’s tour schedule break but it wasn’t until I saw those amps roll in – how incredible to witness such an event. Thank you Paul and thank you Ringo for an incredible night that I will never ever forget for the rest of my life. I am still on cloud 9!!!!!!!

wonderful to see the 2 remaining beatles on this occasion, and it kept paul from making more thoughtless political comments for a day……he and ringo did what beatles do best…make music….peace and love happy birthday ringo…thanks for a new memory paul and ringo.
OMG, how wonderful!!! How lucky are those in attendance?! I’m going to see Paul in Charlotte in a little less than 3 weeks and this was just what I needed!! I’ve seen the Beatles once in Memphis in 1966 and Paul 5 times already. I keep thinking – how much longer can he do this? I am taking my 24-year-old son with me to Charlotte. He has heard Beatle music since he was in the womb. I told him I will try not to embarrass him at the concert!! I’ve got to dry my tears now so I can watch it again!! Happy Birthday, Ringo!!
That is so awesome! Wish I could have been there…. I love Paul and Ringo..Going to see Ringo next week!! Cant wait..
God Bless The Beatles
Beautiful memories.
I was there, at the back of the orchestra. After what we thought was the encore, the lights went down. I first saw the recognizable shadow of Paul flying across to the center of the stage. The lights came on, revealing Paul in his black suit and his sneaky-surprise smile, and the music of “Birthday” started. The crowd screamed madly, like it was 1964, and it felt like the roof was lifting off of Radio City – it was that high of a moment. How amazing to see two Beatles together! As we exited, total strangers were greeting each other outside with excitement. I woke up this morning, still wondering if this had really happened, or if was just another of the many “Beatles” dreams I have had since I was young. It was true Beatle history!
Yeah, every hour on the hour, including 4:20…
‘ Peace and L0VE ‘
Transcendental cosmic love and peace to all, everybody too.

That is soo cool. That was real sweet of Paul to give Ringo a kiss and to show up for his 70th birthday. I hope Ringo does the same thing when Paul turns 70 in 2012. I wish I was there. But I’ve seen Paul 3 times already. I saw Ringo back in Aug 2001. I was born too late to see the Beatles perform live but now, I’m in my late 20s and I LOVE the Beatles. My whole bedroom is Beatles.
Wow!!!! That was a fantastic moment to see. Beatle history right before your very eyes. Both of them looking as fit as ever and full of energy! Love you both! It choked me up completely..so many memories! Happy Birthday Ringo and MANY MANY MORE!!!!!
To Matt Klein,
I’m only 28 and I’m a Beatlesmaniac.
Thanks for sharing this moment. Happy birthday Ringo – 70??? Unbelievable! I can’t wait to see Sir Paul @ ATT Park in San Francisco on Saturday night!!!!!
Until I was ten years old, all I listened to was Elvis and other stuff that my sisters were listening to. Then, my mom and dad bought me “Meet the Beatles” for my birthday and it was all over. I never went back.
Here we are all these years later, and they are still making an impact. I dare say that I can’t think of another act that will have that longevity. They had talent, a vision, and the will to make it happen. They were amazing and they still are.
The Beatles are ageless.
I know that I am not the only one crying, but I wonder if I am the only one who thinks that Paul’s suit and tie are very reminiscent of the ones they wore on the Sullivan show.
Can’t believe Ringo is 70 – he looks “mahvelous”!!! Saw them also (twice) in Chicago – absolutely the best rock band ever!!!
Happy Birthday Ringo……saw the Beatles at the Baltimore Civic Center…..
i was there and completely numb , when paul and ringo play together , two legends…..what a show
This was an unforgettable moment in a lifetime shaped and molded by unforgettable Beatle moments – Ed Sullivan, Shea Stadium, etc. The Beatles were the soundtrack of my youth. Seeing Ringo and Paul still going strong keeps me young! HAPPY BIRTHDAY RINGO!
PEACE AND LOVE, PEACE AND LOVE, PEACE AND LOVE
OMG!!!!! I would have loved to have been there for this, they both look wonderful and to see them together like this is amazing. I will never be able to see my favorite band of all time the way I would like and this is the closest I have come so far. What an amazing birthday present for Ringo and for us! Happy Birthday Ringo and belated Happy Birthday to Paul!
Seeing Paul come out and surprise Ringo for his big 70 just grabs you like jumping into a freezing cold river in the summertime–WOW!!! Instant tears of pure joy! It’s so emotional seeing them together, so much happiness yet bittersweet. It’s like my whole life came flooding back, with The Beatles at the forefront…Ed Sullivan, those first albums, Beatlemania, A Hard Days Night movie, the heavier albums, deeper meanings, Vietnam, and peace-n-love comes full circle. Thank God I’m living in these times, so lucky to be a Beatles fan, and so great to see this video clip of Paul & Ringo who obviously still have great affection for each other!
“Yeah Yeah Yeah!”
Timing is everything & I thank God above for putting me & my brother at Radio City Music Hall July 7th. to witness & experience the wonderful magic only Paul McCartney & Ringo Starr can generate when they not only appear together, but sing & play together live & in person.
An unbelievable rush that flows through your veins & will simmer for the rest of your life !
Wow! This is amazing! It must have been great to be there to witness Paul and Ringo performing together again. Happy Birthday Ringo!
Watching Paul and Ringo on stage together – that was great! But after the song, seeing Ringo come down from the drums and he and Paul embrace, was something I never thought I would ever see again. What a reunion (minus the 2, although I know John and Goerge were there in spirit) but still AWESOME! Thanks, Paul and a blessed birthday, Ringo!
WOW!!!! How lucky for those who were there!! Tears are streaming down my face…….
If you have not seen Paul or Ringo yet, what are you waiting for?? A life altering experience!!
I LOVE THE BEATLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dear Ringo,
Could you please surprise Paul in Philly on the 14th????
I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!!
Happy Birthday Ringo!! What a great surprise from Paul. Loved this!
This is beautiful.
this is beautiful!
I was so fortunate to be “kid” in the 60’s and to grow up with The Beatles and their music!! Nothing will ever come close to being what they were and still are: The Greastest Band of all Time!!
Happy Birthday, Mr. Starkey and may you have many, many more and may Paul be at your side for all of them!!
…the first thing to make me weep tears of joy in 10 years !

Great! Great! Great! Can’t get any better than that. Happy Birthday Ringo. Love you Paul♥
going to see Paul tomorrow @ AT+T park in SF, hope I don’t cry, I’m a grown man now—-HA! I had my first orgasm when I saw them on Ed Sullivan. That’s the only way I can describe it. The most unforgetable moment of my life and they were for me too the soundtrack of my life. I miss John and George terrible and I cherish these 2 remaining fabs.I love them. Peace and love to you Ringo and thanx for all the memories, Happy B’Day
Wow. Was this fanatastic. I couldn’t have said it better than Chuck Paul (8). I was 11 when I saw the Beatles in Milwaukee and I thank God they were such a huge part of my life and still are. Wouldn’t it be great to actually meet Paul or Ringo before I croak, just to say ‘thank you,’ but I know it’s just a dream. So, yeah, what a gift they’ve been. We were so lucky to be alive in the 60s. Kids today have absolute squat to actually leave such a mark on their lives. I wish Ringo and Paul all the happiness they’ve brought to so many for so long. Happy birthday, Ringo!
Man, I wish I could have been there….I would have thought I had died and gone to Heaven! What could top that???? I’ve never seen Paul McCartney in concert….it is on my bucket list, tho! I’ve been infatuated with the Cute Beatle since I saw him and the rest of the Fab Four sing on Ed Sullivan when I was 8 years old….sigh!
We were supposed to see Ringo at Westbury NY and the guy we bought the tickets from screwed us, I came in from Myrtle Beach only for a big dissapointment but the video from Radio City Music Hall with Paul and Ringo together again was unbelievable. Thanks guys for doing it one more time, truely the greatest rock and roll band ever…………
