We hope you got to see LENNONYC on your local PBS station last night. It is a brand new documentary covering John’s New York City Years. We think it was very well done, with lots of previously unseen footage and new interviews with many friends and family including Yoko, Jack Douglas, Elton John, Earl Slick, Hugh McCracken, Bob Gruen and many others. Let us know what you thought of it. The LENNONYC DVD is now available, specially priced at $22.50 (List is $24.95) and it is in stock. Others may tell you the release is December 7th, but we do have them in stock and ready to ship.
The Original & Longest Running Beatles Celebration, Since 1974!
Watched both of them.First one showed the reasons why the Beatles broke up. LennonNYC show John in a different light. He truly was a great artist who was just getting back into the music world again.
The more I learn about John Lennon the more sad I feel. His was an emotionally hard life. LENNONNYC also seemed to convey that many missing pieces in John’s life; things unsaid that continued to be painful, destructive pieces (by others?) of a life already torn.
As I read the above comments, they express exactly how I feel after watching both shows. The first was a bit more disturbing with all of the turmoil John experienced, both personally and professionally. The second was a bit more comforting and enlightening, but knowing the outcome at the end of the show made it all sad again, for me. The second show really gave me a much better appreciation for Yoko Ono than I had before, which was mostly based on media portrayals. I enjoyed both shows immensely.
I didn’t even know it was on hope PBS replays it again.
We do not know it will be replayed, but we do have it on DVD.
We love you and miss you, Beautiful Boy. And we need you now, more than ever.
May you rest forever in the arms of the Prince of Peace…
Love and prayers,
Suzanne
Just wanted to say I loved that last comment by Suzanne!!! I am 110% certain that John is sitting right beside God, and maybe is tickling his funny bone at the same time as he did mine over the years 🙂 If I had a nickel, I would toss it away just to show John how little money and possessions mean to me as it meant to him. We do love you John…now and forever!!! Unfortunately though, I did miss this special when it aired, but I do plan to buy the DVD in time. Hey, how bout a DVD of Nowhere Boy too??? 🙂
Nowhere Boy coming to DVD in early 2011.
I’d rather watch this on DVD or online, because when the local Peeb shows it, the widescreen picture is center cut, cutting off the sides!
I am awaiting my order for “Nowhere Boy”. I really hope it’s great.
I only wish more ppl my age and younger, would realize the talent and uncompromisable views, set by Lennon. But, I am afraid they will keep listening to “Lil Wayne”…sigh.
