It Was 36 Years Ago Today!

lennonHarryApril 28, 1974. It was a warm sunny Sunday enabling me to wear Capitol’s 10th Anniversary promotional Beatles shirt that led me to John Lennon’s door, the day John, and Harry Nilsson appeared Live in Central Park to support the first March of Dimes event. That day is still so clear in my memory – certainly the most important non family event day of my life. 36 years later THE FEST is still going strong, all from this one acorn of an idea I had. Thanks, John. Read More.

  1. VERY COOL, Mark. I’ve heard THE STORY before, never tire of it and, it actually gave me goose bumps reading it again just now.

  3. Hi Mark,
I’ve been to Chicago fest for the last 8 or 9 yrs. & knew that you had asked John’s permission for this, but I always wondered how in the world were you able to get in to his apartment?? Did you just walk up & knock on his door? However it happened, I’m very glad it did! I LOVE the Chicago fest~

  5. It was 36 years ago today! Sgt harry met Lennon that day! He’d been going in and out of style! But he was guaranteed to raise a smile! So may I introduce to you, the one and only Harry Nilsson, sgt Harry’s Official “The Fest” website! Yeah!

  6. thanks, Mark for getting the fest started it was fun going to the fest here in Vegas for two years, and I’ve been to Chicago in 2009 in 2008 I got my dad into the Fest for Beatles fans he attended his first Vegas fest in 2008 please, for god sake change the name to Beatles fest my most memorable fest was L.A. in ’92 and New York in ’84 I will make it to Secaucus in 2011 during the 2002 Chicago fest there was nothing going on besides the showing of A Hard Day’s Night. NJ 2010 turned out to be a blast, since you allowed the attendees to play till 4:00 am thanks for our attempted campaign to bring the fest back to Vegas
and it was fun of you to organize the Ukulele ensemble record attempt last year at the fest in Chicago.

    peace and love

  8. But now the Vegas is canceled because of economy and they couldn’t get enough people in California and Nevada to go and they weren’t making enough money to have the Vegas fest
