Martin Scorsese’s new film,George Harrison: Living in the Material World had its premiere over the weekend in London. The Beatles and their families turned up for the event. Paul and his fiancee Nancy Shevell, Ringo and Barbara, Yoko, Sean, and of course, Olivia and Dhani. The movie airs on HBO this Wednesday and Thursday at 9:00PM. Set your DVRs. Reviews have been fabulous and this is a film all fans will not want to miss.
We have just received the book, Living in the Material World, and this is one of the best Beatles related books in many years. It is mostly a photo book with quotes from friends and family. We knew that Ringo was a camera buff, but this book shows many of photos George took, from the earliest days of beatlemania, through the tours, and into his post Beatles life. Most of the photos in this book have NEVER been seen before.
Sounds fabulous and I am ready to see it this week…great web site…I have been hooked on the beatles since 1963…saw them in person in NYC in the fall of 1964…went up to where they were appearing and someone sold use two tickets for only tten bucks apiece…best concert of anyones life…what an experience they were.
I am awaiting this book, and if there are any George scruffs in the Hollywood, West Hollywood or Westside area that are having screening parties, please e-mail me at suzanne_diamond@yahoo.com. I love and adore George, but alas do not have a tv!!!! I love the fact that those who personally knew George and his scruffs alike, frequently refer to him in present tense, as we still feel his presence. He still teaches us today what is important in life, spirituality, family, friends, a sense of humor and most of all love!!!!
It’s great seeing two of the living surviving Beatles and Paul’s fiancee, Nancy and Barbara and Olivia and Dhani and Sean.
I’m sure George is just “lurking about” making sure there’s nothing “groddy” about it and telling us all to “makshow”!!
“To the uppermost of the poppermost George”!!
