THURSDAY, JUNE 14TH UPDATE: Paul’s new CD enters Billboard’s Top 200 Chart at Number 3! It is the highest charting rock album this week. Last night, Paul gave a ‘secret concert’ at the new Highline Ballroom in the meatpacking district in New York City. 90 minutes of pure joy and electricity. It looked like around 600 mostly fans were in attendance to witness the first time Paul has played Beatles songs in a club (at least in the U.S.) in more than 40 years. Paul showcased 5 new songs from his excellent new CD Memory Almost Full – Dance Tonight, Only Mama Knows, That Was Me, House of Wax and Nod Your Head. His whole band was there except Wix, who had a previous engagement. Paul’s voice has never been better and he seemed to really enjoy the coziness of the room, where fans were standing 5 feet from him. Some of the Beatles songs he performed were (not in o rder)Drive My Car (opening song), I’ll Follow the Sun, Lady Madonna, Hey Jude, Long and Winding Road, Let It Be, Get Back, I’ve Got a Feeling. Blackbird, Back in the U.S.S.R..Paul also treated the fans to C Moon, Calico Skies and Here Today, which he dedicated to three lost mates – John, George and Linda. He also performed Carl Perkins’ Matchbox, which we cannot recall Paul ever singing lead on! It was a night to remember. Our NY METRO FEST MC Q104.3’sKen Dashow and our CHICAGO MC WXRT’s Terri Hemmert were both in attendance, as was WFUV’S Darren DeVivo, and Whoopi Goldberg! What an evening. We’ve said it before – When you’re the best, you’re the best!
