Billy Preston was the only musician, aside from Tony Sheridan, to be credited on a Beatles recording. Preston played electric piano on "Get Back," and was a regular presence while the Beatles were recording the album that would become Let It Be. Preston contributed to two Beatles recordings on Abbey Road as well - "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" and "Something." Preston was also an accomplished solo artist, scoring hits with songs such as "Nothing from Nothing." Aside from his work with The Beatles and his solo accomplishments, Preston co-wrote "You Are So Beautiful" with Dennis Wilson of The Beach Boys. The song would become a hit for Joe Cocker.
Born in Houston, Texas on September 2nd, 1946, Billy Preston passed away in 2006.
